Come on! That president was protecting the LGBT student group from a backlash that in actuality would be aimed at porn not at gay rights. LGBT rights should not be grouped with Porn rights! They would not allow a heterosexual porn actor to give a talk either so who has an articulate, intelligent comeback for that. As a gay physician currently living near San Francisco with many friends in the adult film industry, from a small hyper-religious town in the Deep South, who is also the son of a Southern Baptist preacher and has a heterosexual brother active in the porn industry, I completely understand the perspective of an isolated gay young man; however, I defy that associating pornography of any form with a civil rights movement preventing discrimination based on sexual orientation is conducive to advancing gay rights. If I were scheduled to speak at the same college, my talk would have not been cancelled because I would be speaking about the topic I was scheduled to, not promoting my personal perspective agenda and then crying “gay rights!” Bring on your refutes because I got the background, the experience, the realistic perspective and the open-mindedness to step toe-to-toe with anyone who wants to dispute this.
